The Return of Jesus — Acts 1:11

“You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven.”
— Acts 1:11

Men of Galilee

Galilee means circle or circuit. The “men of Galilee” stand for those caught in the round of repeated states of consciousness. They are looking outward, expecting something external to change their lives.

Why Stand Gazing?

The angels ask: Why stand you gazing up into heaven? Heaven is not a distant sky. In Neville Goddard’s teaching, heaven is within — it is the state of consciousness in which one abides. To look upward is to miss the truth: the creative power of God is in the “I AM,” your own awareness.

The Same Jesus

Jesus represents the awakened awareness of being, the power to assume the wish fulfilled. His “ascension” is the raising of consciousness into the unseen — an inner act. His “return” is the inevitable manifestation of that state in the outer world.

In Like Manner

“As ye have seen him go into heaven” — as assumption lifts desire into the unseen — so shall He return. The process is certain. What has been taken into imagination will appear clothed in fact.

The Law in Acts 1:11

This verse is not about waiting for a man to descend from the clouds. It is the promise of the law of consciousness:

As surely as seed goes into the ground and springs forth in harvest, so the unseen assumption returns as experienced reality.
